DOING THE THINGS YOU LOVE

We address the cause of your pain, not just the symptom. Many people believe they have no choice but to “live with it” when it comes to body pain and discomfort. Our team wants to show you another way.

Some people believe chiropractic as being something only for back pain, but chiropractic treatment can be used to treat a wide variety of physical issues, such as shoulder impingement , migraines and headaches, patellofemoral syndrome, carpal tunnel, pain due to injury or muscle strain, and much more.

The founder of the Movement Mechanic, Dr. Carlee Aitchison, is very passionate about helping clients solve their areas of discomfort and pain. She believes that education is a big part of your success to healing and aims to always have her clients understand their body. Learn more about her below.

ABOUT DR. CARLEE AITCHISON

"I believe in helping you feel great through deliberate treatment and intentional movement practices."

- Dr. Carlee Aitchison
Founder, The Movement Mechanic

Originally from Lethbridge AB, Dr. Aitchison graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 2017. Prior to her time in Toronto, Dr. Aitchison’s keen interest in the human body lead her to obtain a Bachelor of Exercise Science from the University of Lethbridge. During this time Dr. Aitchison suffered from both a low back and shoulder injury which derailed her athletic endeavors. These injuries ultimately led her to want to pursue a career in health care to provide those with the care she wished she could have been given.

Dr. Aitchison understands what it is like to be injured and desires to provide those suffering from injuries the care they need to allow to do them to do the thing they love to do. This also led to her passion for human movement and strong belief in mitigating injury risk through appropriate and thorough care. She has gone out of her way to pursue further education in taping, movement assessment, functional range conditioning and integrated therapeutics.

MANUAL THERAPY

Uses hands on palpation and observation to assess neural tension and associated dysfunction.

Fast or slow hands on manipulative procedures are then used to diminish the dysfunctions, and diminish inflammation.

INSTRUMENTED ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION (SMARTTools)

Utilizes five stainless steel instruments to treat a variety of tissue extensibility dysfunctions including scarring and fibrosis, fascial tension and densification, neural tension, muscle hypertonicity, neurological restrictions and trigger points. Treatment will allow for improved range of motion and movement patterns.

CLINIC & ATHLETIC TAPING
ATHLETIC MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT

A system derived of various movement protocols that simulate numerous athletic motions.

The protocols can be used to identify and qualify optimal and suboptimal movement patterns which in turn guide clinical and performance directives.

The assessment is designed to account for variables (foot and core) that have influence on the primary movement patterns (upper and lower extremity).

Includes the use of a variety of different tapes to aid in the treatment of functional (postural support/retraining) and clinical conditions (McKenzie protocol taping for disc herniation or sciatica patients).

Various taping methods are used over muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints for further support during sport. This can help diminish injury as it offers structured support and increased proprioceptive feedback to muscles, ligaments and joints.

EXERCISE PROGRAMMING/REMOTE COACHING
FUNCTIONAL RANGE CONDITIONING

Following a thorough assessment, specific exercise(s) are chosen with the intention of restoration and/or fortification of physical function.

Developed by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina, Functional Range Conditioning® is an inclusive joint training system based in scientific principals and research. There are 3 primary interrelated objectives when training using FRC® system: Mobility development, joint strength and Body control. Numerous professional sports teams have incorporated FRC to mitigate injury risk and enhance performance.
